Along with a need for safe and supervised care, many parents enroll their child in a child care or preschool program with the expectation that they will be learning academic skills that will prepare them for future school success. Because many of the parent's early school or care experiences were rigid school environments comprised of worksheets and teacher-directed activities, they are often dismayed to find their children playing for most of the day.
Science experiments for kids are especially fun because kids see science activities the same way they see magic tricks. All the science experiments for kids listed below make great preschool activities and are helpful as well for kindergartners and homeschoolers. So, let’s get started… Hear Your Own Heartbeat - Attach a flexible tube to the small end of a funnel. Tape securely in place. Cover the large end of the funnel with paper. Place the large end of the funnel over your heart, and the end of the tube close to your ear. Listen as sound travels and you can hear your own heartbeat. Make Salt Crystals - Put one half cup of warm water and a tablespoon of salt in a dark colored bowl. Place the bowl in a sunny spot so the water can evaporate. Use a magnifying glass to see the salt crystals that are left behind. The Magic Coin - Place a coin in a colored bowl. Slowly back away from the bowl until you can no longer see the coin. Have someone pour water into the bowl. You’ll then be able to see the coin because the water bends the light reflecting from the coin around the edge of the bowl. Come around nestling palms to enjoy more fun science experiments for your kids.
Are you getting ready to send your child off to daycare or pre-school for the first time? Sometimes this change can be just as nerve-wracking for parents as it is for children. Here are 5 easy tips to help you get your little one off to a good start! 1. Do not bring your child with you as you check out your school options. 2. Introduce the concept of school to your child. 3. Bring your child for a visit before their first day of school. 4. When they start school, let them bring a comfort object from home. 5. Expect some growing pains!
A quality child care program has quite a few positive affects on young children. Children that have spent a significant amount of time being cared for and learning in a quality daycare program have notably improved social skills over their stay at home with mommy or daddy counterparts. The children exhibit vastly improved sharing skills, problem solving, confidence, independence, self reliance, the ability to more easily foster friendships, and an over all healthy trust of their immediate environment and that of the outside word. Children that benefit from a quality care environment have a highly advanced learning curve when it comes to things such as rolling over, sitting, crawling, walking, and talking. These children reach these millstones at a much quicker pace in large part due to their peers. The younger children are taught by example, and strive to play along with their more physically or mentally advanced peers.
